On Fifty Shades of Grey...

This is Not A Review... This article will appear only on this Blog...

Most of us have a never-ending battle between the good and bad sides we have...

Please don't tell me we don't have them--you know we do...

One of the things that keeps us from many of the bad things we might choose is Love. God's Love, Human Love, Agape Love, Love for our countries...and, yes, love of our ideals--what makes us uniquely ourselves...

For instance, when I was hating what was happening to me at work, I would oftentimes leave there and head for an action movie... Where I could imagine that one of the "good guys" was punching on my boss...LOL

So I admit to having some thoughts of violence, revenge...

What I've been able to do, however, as I near the end of my own life, is to keep all violence only as a few thoughts to be quickly forgotten...

And, never, yes, never could it have been entwined with love!

My first article referred to human trafficking... This is one result of violence...

Tell me, does a book come first or does the action by some criminal... I've begun to wonder. Probably because I've been reading so many books...LOL

So when Fifty Shades of Grey came out and I heard the blurb, I had no intention of reading it. But, one of my relatives asked me if I had read it... Now of all the books I would have been happy to discuss, this was the one about which I was asked...

So, you know I had to go out and get it...

It didn't even take 100 pages of reading for me to decide I didn't wish to continue...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tell me, have you ever been physically or sexually abused? I have... And believe me, I didn't think it had anything to do with...love...
Have you ever been raped? I haven't but many, many women and men have been raped against their will...
Rape has no relationship to love... Nor has it anything to do with sexual activities between two people who love each other...
Who and Why merged pain with sexual love?! The bastard should be burning somewhere right now, I am sure...
Now the question? Did Fifty Shade of Grey titillate you? Why?
Why would you wish to merge violence with sex?
"It's called a flogger." Christian's voice is quiet and soft.
"A flogger...hmm. I think I'm in shock. My subconscious has emigrated or been struck dumb or simply keeled over the expired. I am numb. I can observe and absorb but not articulate my feelings about all this, because I'm in shock. What is the appropriate response to finding out a potential lover is a complete freaky sadist or masochist? Fear...yes...that seems to be the overriding feeling...
~~~

Oh, yes, I reserve my right to change my mind and read more...to hopefully be proven wrong...

Or will I discover as I anticipate that, instead the woman claims to start enjoying it?

Tell me, if that is the case?

Why then would you scream rape and want to arrest the individual?

Surely if you have feelings of a need to be handled roughly, there is no difference in being raped?

Or is there? I can't imagine what the difference would be...

Comments? Thoughts?

Do movies and books have any influence on decisions made by those who could be called criminals...Those who think nothing about kidnapping your daughter or niece to sell to somebody who will enslave her for sex?

Within the Sounds of Silence - May 17, 2025 - 1940s through 60s versus Present Decade

  Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel is one of all-time favorite songs... As in most times in my life, the words of a song (or a book) became most important. This one because of one word: Silence... Often, when I would start singing this song in my mind, I would substitute Silence instead of Darkness... Beginning, "Hello, Silence my old friend, I've come to talk with you again..." Darkness was just opposite of light...  but silence had meaning to me... I have always been a person who needs quiet time. In my early life, we lived in the country, where I've come back to, after spending many years living in Morgantown, WV, where I worked at the University starting right after graduating from high school... Living in a small town of New Geneva, most of our lives outside of home were in school or church, which often held social events as well as regular services. I was given piano lessons--enough to learn enough to play hymns at church, LOL... I was not destined to be...
